卑尔根美术音乐设计学院( KMD )的前身是卑尔根艺术设计学院( KHiB )。

大厅及其周边分布的410个房间(包括礼堂、办公室、不同规模的工作室等)以培养创造力为最终目标，能够承受各种恶劣的使用和损失是艺术院校所不可避免的。

建筑物的立面由耐海水腐蚀的粗铝材构成，错误的表面像是富有韵律的拼图。

户外空间
11.45英亩用地中，9英亩用作绿化区、露天广场、停车场等室外用地。
室外区域大部分对公众开放，Kunstallmenningen广场和餐厅露台形成了自然的集会空间。
